Railroads
A main line of the Union Pacific Railroad serves Alda with 60 freight trains
daily. Switching is done by local switch crews.
Passenger service is also available in Hastings, Nebraska.
Motor
Highways
East-west U.S. Highway 30 passes through Alda and north-south U.S. Highway
281 is 6 miles east of Alda. There are no local load restrictions. Interstate
80 is five miles south and Interstate 29 is 155 east of Alda.
Trucklines
Approximately 51 trucklines serve the area with 25 local terminals in the
immediate vicinity.
Bus Lines
Greyhound Bus Lines with three east-bound and three west-bound buses daily
serve Grand Island, seven miles east of Alda. Bus parcel service is also provided.
Direct service is available to Denver and Omaha where connections can be
made to other major cities.
Hall County Handi-Bus, (308) 385-5324, provides service for the elderly and handicapped
within Hall county.
Air
The Central Nebraska Regional Airport (308) 385-5170, located ten
miles northeast of Alda, provides passenger, air express, and air
freight services. Direct service is available in Nebraska to Omaha,
Hastings, and Kearney. Direct service is also available to Minneapolis, MN,
Chicago, IL, Denver, CO, and Kansas City, MO.
Scheduled air service is available at the Hastings Municipal
Airport, (402) 463-6631 (30 miles southeast of Alda) and at the
Kearney Municipal Airport, (308) 237-2111 (32 miles west of
Alda). Both airports are served by GP Express.
